The Anatolian Shepherd Dog
Despite the "Shepherd" in their name, the Anatolian Shepherd Dog is not a herding breed. They are an ancient livestock guardian, native to Turkey and Asia Minor. They are a large and powerful breed with an independent nature. While they do enjoy the company of their people, they do not excel at obedience. We tell people that the dogs take what you want into consideration and then make their own decision. They are calm and serene, until they perceive a threat. Then they will alert to the danger and escalate their assertive behavior until the threat is gone. Thankfully, Anatolians have relatively few health problems and are long lived for a large breed.
While the Anatolian Shepherd is an amazing animal to share your life with, they are not the breed for everyone. Please do yourself a favor & research the breed and the breeders, before you make, what will hopefully be, a 10 - 14 year commitment. We are happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have, to help determine if these wonderful dogs are right for you.

The Siginak Foundation
While our dogs are family members first, we highly value their working ability. They work 24/7, guarding our home, family & livestock. We only make the occasional show ring appearance to exhibit our breeding stock.
Inci is our beautiful foundation bitch. Inci has excelled at everything we have asked of her. She's proven to be a fantastic working dog, successful show dog, wonderful breeding bitch and mother. We are members of the Anatolian Shepherd Dogs International. We are a "Code of Ethics Breeder" and are dedicated to producing dogs of sound mind & body. We accept puppy applications for Working, Show and Companion Homes. For more information, click on Puppies & Planned Litters. |
